/, Fiber Arts, Fused Glass, Woodwork/Featured Artist for Ferns and Fancy Gallery December 21st, 2013

Announcing a Special Show and Sale “Woodland Wonders in Wood, Glass and Fiber” on  Dec 21, 2013 at the Ferns and Fancy Gallery in Chapel Hill, at 15 Woodside Trail (zip 27517), from 12 noon to 5:00 pm. The featured artist, Jim Oleson, is a fine furniture maker. He joins Trudy Thomson for this one time special event. Both artists are juried members of the Orange County Artists Guild.

Jim’s hand-crafted cheese boards and end-grain cutting boards make nice gifts. Both types feature patterns using inlays and natural woodgrain. Also available are Jim’s jewelry/keepsake boxes; these feature lids that have book matched live-edge walnut slabs accented with gem and mineral stones. Unique and fancy enough to please any on the receiving end. Also on display are two examples of Jim’s fine furniture. This includes a hall table with a quarter-sawn white oak top and walnut legs.  And an example of Jim’s white oak burl coffee tables. Custom orders are welcomed.

The work of both artists is organic in look and feel; the treatments complement the space. This small new gallery rests in an unusual spot that hovers over a hill above a creek. Stop by for this one time special event. See this article about Jim Oleson’s unusual work and background.
